As Paul Henderson says in his post, we are at the Shine unconference and delighted that Nick Temple has badged us up as social reporters … the role is clearly taking off. We’ve met up with Darragh Doyle (see the qik video) who is over from Ireland also ready for some reporting with his Nokia N95. The temptation is to spend our time discussing how to stream video, blog etc instead of actually reporting what’s going on. We’ll try and get out of the wifi-enabled cafe.

Social reporting has got off to a great start and I’ve already met Ben Matthews (and his EeePC) who heard about Shine via Twitter (NB professional as always the video only goes to 1minute and then I forgot to switch it off, fortunately I didn’t say anything libellous, but it’s not worth watching after that!). And we’ve entered the European transfer market and signed up our first guest blogger Darragh Doyle from Ireland. Hopefully he’ll be able to blog from his lovely N95 8GB phone later. All set and ready to roll now for Shine 2008; tickets have been going like the proverbial hot cakesm, and I’m laden with technological equipment, only some of which I have any idea how to use.
Along with David Wilcox, Paul Henderson and others, we’ll be attempting to capture what’s happening at the event through video, blog posts etc. If you’re blogging or uploading photos in Flickr or whatever, just tag it with shine2008 (or #shine2008 on twitter) and you’ll join the conversation.
Hello there, just a quick introduction while I help get the latest socialreporter.net site going for Shine2008.
I’ve been doing this for a while since I rashly suggested that we at ruralnet|uk should do a blog for the ruralnet|2005 conference, and then had to do it! David Wilcox, Nick Temple and I will be covering Shine in a number of ways, principally video (see DC10plus for last week’s socialreporting ) using Qik live from mobile phones, more on that in a sec.
But it’s not just us, here - using the shine2008 tag anyone can join in with pictures on Flickr, following shine2008 on Twitter, hastags etc which the other guys have explained. See you there!
